SOMETHING BLUE: "cocktail" rings on the rocks

Recently we've seen them everywhere (and they're certainly not easy to miss). I'm referring to those large, bold and beautiful cocktail rings on the hands of many stylish women. And being a self-proclaimed "accessories addict", I must admit that I have a fair share of these "little" eye-catchers myself.

But, nothing that I own compares to Piaget's new swoon-worthy collection of cocktail rings, inspired by (none other than) actual cocktail drinks. Yes, I'm completely in love! So, in keeping with the theme of my "Something Blue" blog entries, let me share a few of the yummy BLUE baubles from the Piaget Limelight Party Cocktail Rings collection....

The BLUE HAWAIIAN:

An 18-carat white gold ring with 121 brilliant-cut diamonds, a single cushion-cut blue topaz and white chalcedony with a round yellow sapphire

The BLUEBERRY DAIQUIRI:

This ring is based around a cushion-cut Amethyst and finished with a diamond straw, and pink sapphire umbrella.

The BLUE OCEAN:

This ring is formed of a huge blue topaz stone, with a coralline bead to represent a cherry and completed with a tiny diamond straw.

Take a look at the website for additional colors and styles of these drink-inspired cocktail rings!

Happy Thanksgiving!

On this wonderful day, we come together and take time out specifically to reflect on our many blessings. When I stop and actually think of all of the things that I'm thankful for, I realize that it would take me quite a while to type everything into this blog entry (and I'd possibly risk missing Thanksgiving dinner).

But, I'd definitely like to share a quick few...
  • I am so very thankfully for my family and friends that show their unconditional love and support.
  • For my husband that is by my side through all of my ups, downs, accomplishments and disappointments. We laugh often on our many good days, he puts up with my crazy days and he loves me always.

  • I'm thankful for having a business that not only brings me an abundance of joy, but also allows me to share my passion and gifts while working with wonderful couples on one of the biggest and happiest days of their lives.

  • For my life and being given a new day each morning (which also means being given a new opportunity each day).
  • For having life's "basic needs" (food, water and shelter) during these rough and uncertain times, when so many people are struggling just to have those same 3 needs met daily.

  • I'm thankful in advance (and ever so hopeful) for what 2011 has in store. There's something that keeps telling me it's going to be a great year!
  • I'm unspeakably thankful for my Father in Heaven that continues to shower me with blessings. Without Him, the above list (including the things I didn't type) would not be possible... thank YOU!

What A Wedding wishes you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

SOMETHING BLUE: Holiday Gifts Edition

It's still difficult to believe that this Thursday is Thanksgiving, which means that the 2010 holiday shopping will truly be in full swing on "Black Friday". So, it only seemed fitting that today's "Something Blue Sunday" blog entry would have a holiday gift focus. Check out a these fun finds for the various people on your gift list.

For the girlfriend... "pop the question" with a blue sapphire and diamond ring.

For the teen or tween... a digital camera, because (for some reason) they just love taking hundreds of pictures of themselves.

For just about anyone... a gift card is a gift that always fits

For the Justin Bieber fan (OH NO!!!)... a JB doll sporting a blue shirt and blue shoes

For the iPhone addict... a custom iPhone cover

For the tree-hugger... a set of 5 reusable bags that fold down into one compact carrying case

For the new parents... this fancy little stroller. Yes, it's a little over $1k, but supposedly it's also well worth it (or so we hope)

For the fashionable techie... a blue and white zebra print iPad case

For the sports fan... a retro toaster the imprints their favorite team's logo on the bread
(OK, technically, this one isn't blue. But I was basing it on the Cowboys team colors)

For the traveler... a digital luggage scale to ensure those bags don't exceed the weight limit.

And, finally... just about anything in this little blue box or blue bag will bring a huge smile to your loved one's face!

HAPPY HOLIDAY SHOPPING!!!!

Real Wedding: Sheya & Mike

Sheya and Mike were recently married in north county San Diego and selected the ever so popular 10/10/10 date for their wedding. Pamela Scott Photography captured their day and posted photos on their blog here... enjoy!

"Something Blue"... for the groom!

Of course we all know how the old tradition goes, "something old, something new..." (yep, no need for me to finish the rest). But, as most of us have experienced, it's the bride alone that typically partakes in gathering up items that fit into each category. Sure, that's wonderful! But, why not get the groom in on this tradition too?

Well, cufflinks are an easy way to bring in "something blue" while keeping him looking handsome and dapper! Take a look at some of these fun cufflinks we found (for the groom with a good sense of humor).
